I’ve Got A Fever…

…and the only prescription…is more cowbell!

Valentines Day

So we’re all on the same page, read this history on Valentines Day.

I’ve got mixed feelings on this day, as I’m sure most of you do, as well.  In some ways, it’s a social division created by mass-marketing.

As a case study in the power of marketing, it’s absolutely fascinating.

But we’re all hear to mock the day, not analyze it, right?

Here is an absolutely brilliant how-not-to-do video:

So now you are thinking, “What they hell should I give my girl for this wretched holiday?”

Well, my fellow bretheren, I have only one meaningful, realistic suggestion that is a gift so unique, only you can give it:

And, when all else fails…turn to Blog Hero Rick Astley:

Enjoy the day…remember: it’s not as important as she thinks it is but it’s more important than you wish it was.

Rick Astley, The Ladies Man??

Ok, this is starting to get VERY weird.

This afternoon, I was at Circuit City and I bought a few DVDs, including:

I had never seen it and it was on sale–a match made in heaven!  Stayed in tonight, fighting a sinus thing, so in goes the movie.
Leon Phelps’ radio show producer is played by the same actress who was Hilary on “Fresh Prince.”

In one scene, Leon is in her childhood bedroom and notices a poster on the wall.

Who was the poster of?

Yes, Blog Hero Rick Astley!!

For those of you new to the Blog, you can catch up with the Rick Astley saga herehere, here, here, and here.  To summarize, I made a joke, Blog Friend Andrea found the photoshop image and it snowballed from there, until Astley became the official Blog Hero.

Even since, I can’t frickin’ escape pop culture references to him.

So click on some of the above links and indulge in guilty pleasure cheesy late 80s/early 90s pop.  I love it and you know you do, too.

Classic Chris Farley

Pure entertainment on this one.

Check out the end of this one for the great EL NINO!!

This one is half Sandler, half Farley:

My Super Bowl Pick – Daaaaa BAYRSH!

As a self-respecting Baltimore Ravens fan, it would be sacrelig to pick the flippin’ Colts in today’s Super Bowl.  I was less than 2 years old when the Irsays moved the team, yet I still get a shiver up my spine seeing the footage of the Mayflower moving vans leaving Charm City.

It’s not a lingering bitterness towards the ownership, because I was never in my life a Colts fan.  In 1996, the Ravens came to town.  In a bit of twisted irony, the Cleveland Browns left their city to come to mine.  I’m glad that the NFL did the right thing and restored the Browns because, let’s be honest, the Dawg Pound deserves a team.

At the end of the day, Baltimore got our Ravens and we’ve got a Super Bowl trophy.  Still can’t root for the Colts, though.

So, even though I think I’ve posted one of these in the past, enjoy this collection of Bears videos!

And I saved the best for last!

Go Bears!
